Our leadership team

Our Directors are experienced investigators with qualifications in law, investigations, management and fraud control. They oversee all investigations and ensure quality services are provided to all levels of government, not-for-profits and private sector businesses.

Our leadership team have significant experience conducting civil, criminal and integrity investigations into individuals, government entities and private organisations. Having undertaken investigations on behalf of the State Government, statutory office holders, police and integrity bodies, our investigations are underpinned by contemporary investigative practice and the principles and requirements of administrative law.

Director

Brad Wagg

With two decades of relevant experience, including as CEO of a Commission of Inquiry (Tasmania’s equivalent of a Royal Commission), Crown Counsel at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, and Police Officer, Brad has conducted and managed a wide range of sensitive investigations, inquiries and prosecutions.

Brad recently oversaw complex investigations into State Service Agency responses to child sexual abuse while CEO of the Commission of Inquiry into the Tasmanian Government’s Responses to Child Sexual Abuse in Institutional Settings. Over more than two years, the Commission of Inquiry reviewed 95,000 documents and more than 100 written submissions, as well as conducting extensive private and public hearings.

Brad has appeared as Crown Counsel in the Supreme Court of Tasmania, prosecuting serious charges including wounding, drug trafficking and the production of child exploitation material. He has reviewed and assessed complex police files and provided advice on the strength of individual cases to various investigative agencies.

As a Police Officer, Brad conducted successful investigations into a broad range of criminal and regulatory offences.

Brad is an experienced Australian lawyer, holding qualifications in a range of areas including law, management and investigations.

Dave Tilley

With a proven track record in coordinating and managing investigations, Dave is a seasoned professional with a strong background in regulatory compliance, investigations and leadership roles across both the public and private sectors.

As a qualified lawyer, former police officer, government director and seasoned investigator, Dave has held pivotal positions in the Tasmanian Government, Ministerial services, not-for-profit and the private sectors.

Notably, Dave was the primary investigator for the Glenorchy City Council Board of Inquiry and worked for several years as the State Government’s senior investigator into local government. Dave has spent several years managing multiple compliance teams and has overseen hundreds of complex investigations on behalf of the Tasmanian Government.

Dave is a highly qualified and dedicated professional, holding certifications including a Bachelor of Arts and Laws, a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice and certifications in government investigations and fraud control. Dave is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Director

Brendan Hofman

Brendan brings over a decade of investigative experience to the Reliance team, with his specialised skills being developed during his service at the Tasmanian Integrity Commission, and with the local government sector.

With a specialty in the delivery of sensitive and complex matters, Brendan’s expertise saw him lead the Integrity Commission investigations into nepotism by senior executives at TasTAFE and misuse of office at Glenorchy City Council, among numerous other misconduct-related inquiries. His experience covers a range of stakeholders, including State Service Agencies, Government Business Enterprises, the local government sector as well as inquiries into Tasmania Police. The breadth of Brendan’s experience is testament to his versatility and adaptability to complex scenarios.

Brendan’s twelve years of investigative experience are enhanced by nationally recognised qualifications. He holds a Bachelor of Economics and Laws from the University of Tasmania, as well as specialised qualifications and training in investigative services, forensic accounting, interview techniques and emotional intelligence.
